Why This Book Is Important

As I sit at home right now about to write this post, I realize how much I have failed at these principles over the last couple weeks! I have been putting off writing my first book review for quite some time now, but I am finally doing it!

“Eat that Frog” by Brian Tracy is a how to stop procrastinating book. He goes into detail on twenty one different ways to become more productive and not put off the more important things you need to do for yourself, family or business.

Many of us waste so much of our precious time! Time is one of the most valuable things we have, yet we waste it away! In order to get everything done to become successful we need to learn to manage our time, and Brian Tracy is a master at it! I hope you find a little bit of value in this “Eat that Frog” book summary.

Why is it called “Eat that Frog?”

I want you to think about your mornings. What are they like? What is the very first thing you do in the early hours of the day? Do you even get up early? Your average morning probably looks something like this:

You are woken by the beeping of your alarm clock and roll over then hit your snooze button and probably repeat this cycle a few times. Eventually you get up, maybe take a quick shower and grab something to eat before heading out the door to work.

Once you get to work you might talk to co-worker, grab a coffee or tea and start doing some task that is menial instead of a project that is pressing. Or you tell yourself you will work up to doing the harder task by the end of the day. When the end of the day finally gets here you are to tired to do what you promised yourself you would.

At the end of the day you go home exhausted and have some dinner then plop down on the couch and turn on the T.V. and tell yourself you’ll do better tomorrow, but it never happens. Sometimes when you go to work you might wonder why there are others in the company who are more successful. What is it that they do differently?

For those who are successful in life, each and every day they “eat the frog.” Not only do they eat it sometime that day, it is one of the first things they do in the morning! Imagine I am with you right now. In my hand I am holding a frog. I tell you that if you want to become successful in life all you have to do is eat this frog (yes it is alive). Not only do you have to do it that day, but you have to do it everyday of your life.

You probably wouldn’t do it! That frog metaphorically speaking is the hardest, but most important task you need to complete that day. Once you eat the frog, you know that, that is probably the hardest thing you’ll have to do that day! You will then have the confidence you need to go and finish everything else you need to!

How to Find the Frog

In order for you to be able to eat the frog, you need to know where it is and what it looks like! Grab a piece of paper and write down what it is you want to improve or create? Do you want to improve your marriage? Do you want to create a business? Do you want to grow a certain skill that you know will make you more money?

It is very important that you have a long term vision. Don’t plan for just one month from now, think about where you want to five years from now! Where do you want your business to be? What do you need to do to start your business idea?!

If you need to, you can take a few days to write down a plan of action. Once that plan of action is written down, ACT! Once you have it written down what you want to accomplish you will be able to find the frog and eat it! When you do that, amazing things will happen!

My Biggest Take Away

Even though there are twenty one different ways to increase productivity there is one that principle that I really enjoyed! That is when you start a task, to not stop until it is complete!! If you do this i can reduce the amount of time it takes to complete a task by 50%, while those who start and stop, start and stop can increase the amount of time it takes by 500%!

I use this everyday at work, in fact I was able to get my boss to let me change my schedule so I can get more done. I use to go to work from 8-5. Where I work I am one of the main managers, so I get a lot of questions throughout the day. I would be working on a task and it would take and hour to complete where it should have only taken twenty minutes.

Now I go into work at 6 AM, two hours before everyone else! In those two hours I focus on the most important things I need to accomplish that day and do them. I found I was able to complete in those two hours what would normally take four hours because I can zero in and focus completely on what I need to do with no distractions!

Action: I want you to write down what the most important task is that you have to complete tomorrow at work or home and commit yourself to doing that task. Now if you need to take time and plan out what you need to do, you can start practicing to eat that frog!

A great way to prepare yourself to “eat the frog” is to take a cold shower Every. Single. Morning. I am not suggesting it for the health benefits of doing it but because it will mentally prepare you to do hard things and push through when things get tough.

If you have never taken a cold shower before, I can guarantee that in the beginning it will be the hardest thing you do all day long!

How Does this Book Apply to Online Success?!

Starting a website can be very easy to start out doing, however, continuing to work on it for a few hours every day for months can be a struggle when you don’t get results right away (because you don’t with building a website.) For many of us, eating the frog involves writing a new review or post in our niche.

I have had many times where I didn’t feel like writing something but forced myself to do it! Sometimes we have to go through and edit all of our posts and update them to make them more SEO friendly!

Sometimes we need to plan out our content for the upcoming months. If you have a website you are working on, I want you to write down what the most important thing is that you NEED to do! Once you have it written down I want you to commit yourself to doing that thing tomorrow NO MATTER WHAT!!!

Remember, you don’t want to regret anything! If you stop working on your dreams or goals now you ARE going to regret it in the future!

If you are someone who is currently struggling with monetizing their site or has been thinking of trying your hand in the online world, definitely read my Wealthy Affiliate Review as they have all the tools needed to become successful!

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this post. If there is anything I could make better please let me know by leaving a comment! If you know what frog you need to eat tomorrow post it in the comments and commit yourself to do it!

Best of Luck,

Chris
